The claims process
Step 1: Report your claim
Contact your home insurance provider to report your claim. If you purchased your home insurance from Square One Insurance Services, then you can report your claim 24 hours a day by calling 1.855.331.6933 or by visiting www.squareoneinsurance.com/support.
Step 2: Work with your adjuster
For claims requiring emergency assistance, an adjuster will contact you within 2 hours. For all other claims, an adjuster will contact you within 1 business day. Please allow for high call volume during extreme circumstances, such as storm conditions affecting large numbers of people, which may affect call return times.
Your adjuster will walk you through the entire claims process. This includes discussing what your policy covers to what forms need to be completed. Your adjuster will be your dedicated point of contact every step of the way.
Step 3: Get paid
Once your claim has been accepted, your adjuster will be in touch to discuss the next steps. The manner of payment will depend on your individual claim. Most are settled through cheque or e-transfer.
For smaller claims, your adjuster may send you the amount of your loss (minus any deductible) outright. For larger claims, you’ll work with your adjuster to determine the best way to repair or replace your loss. During this period, your adjuster may send partial payments in advance, so it’s important to keep any receipts that relate to your loss/damage or additional living expenses.
Step 4: Tell us how we did
When your claim is concluded, you’ll be asked to complete an online survey. You’ll have the opportunity to tell us about your experience, including whether you were satisfied with the repairs done to your home.
